There are currently two CuddleCots owned by the Canterbury DHB, but they are not allowed to leave the ward. A CuddleCot is a system that significantly cools a bassinet, allowing for stillborn babies to be able to go home for a number of days, as embalming isn't always an option. Following the loss of their wee daughter Lily, Claire and Callum McBeth, wanted families to be able to have their babies at home, away from the hospital. They have generously donated the CuddleCot system to Bell, Lamb & Trotter to be made available free of charge to any grieving family who might need it.
