Bell, Lamb and Trotter – Funeral Home have been serving the people of Canterbury since its founding in 1872 – only thirty two years after the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. The company was founded by Mr James Lamb and under the management of several generations of the Lamb family, J Lamb & Son gained its reputation and identity as one of Canterbury’s leading funeral directing companies.
In the 1980′s new premises were built in Ferry Road and the funeral home was purchased by Fred and Joy Trotter – another Canterbury family – and was renamed J Lamb, Trotter Funeral Directors Ltd.
In 2003 Ian and Suzanne Bell followed the Trotter Family, renaming the funeral home Bell, Lamb & Trotter. Their son Andrew Bell became owner in 2014, ensuring the continuation of the local family ownership and management.
Today Bell, Lamb & Trotter continues to offer the people of Canterbury professional, caring and ethical guidance, based on many years of experience and also a thorough knowledge of recent trends. Many people turn to Bell, Lamb & Trotter because it is a local family business with a focus on caring for people as if they were part of our own family.
Bell, Lamb & Trotter is a member of the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand. This association was formed to ensure high standards of professionalism, integrity and service throughout its member firms.
